The newly rebranded Wiley law firm was eager to shed its historic K Street address and aesthetic for a sleek, modern new trophy building in Washington, DC’s West End neighborhood. The design team drew inspiration from traditional DC landmarks to bring the history of DC into a modern translation in the new space. Colonnades and fluted marble get a new life in the prominent ground floor lobby space, which extends to the remainder of the conference and office space.  In an effort to streamline the office environment, Wiley opted for single-sized attorney offices and a rigorous kit-of-parts of interior areas to create a highly efficient space, while allowing for wide corridors broken up with colonnades to provide the space with a human scale. Corner conference rooms offer the best views as shared spaces and democratize the perimeter offices. A central Nexus links the floors with an interconnecting stair featuring a custom crystal suspended sculpture, conference spaces, and an expansive pantry. The stair was cut into an existing post tension slab on all floors. The Nexus provides a central gathering place for all staff to mingle, and various functions are provided on each floor to encourage movement throughout the entire space.
