HYL seeks a Marketing Manager to join its award-winning design studio in Washington, DC.

HYL is a boutique firm with a high level of interaction and an ability to work directly with the Principals and clients on award winning projects.
Performs and completes work on projects independently and on some tasks under the general direction and supervision of Principals and Managing Principal. The Marketing Manager shall also have the ability to work well with staff of all levels, to motivate staff to become involved in firmwide marketing efforts.
Responsibilities
STRATEGIC
• Work closely with Principals to achieve overall marketing and business development goals and high-level strategy
• Manage firm’s overall marketing strategy, including social media, and monitor new marketing trends and news in the A/E/CRE industry to maintain brand strength and expand reach.
• Conduct market research and analysis.
• Synthesize research/data/metrics into strategic marketing recommendations.
• Provide tactical marketing advice and support aligned with the firm’s strategy.
• Keep track of relationships, connect the dots between projects we have worked on and new opportunities, be abreast of opportunities in the community
• Be a member of a marketing circle that discusses project leads
TACTICAL
• Oversee coordination of all marketing related efforts including promotional material, presentations, and collateral materials.
• Take the lead role in the development and completion of RFP responses, qualifications packages, and interview presentations (writing content, creating graphics, managing the process, working across the organization to assimilate information, adhering to tight deadlines, and serving as the point-person). Collaborate with Principals, Project Managers, and design teams to complete proposals and ensure they are delivered in a timely manner and meet the highest standard of quality and responsiveness to RFP requirements.
• Manage and coordinate communications across all internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to press outreach, publications, inquiries regarding events, etc.
• Establish a continuous improvement program for proposal management by evaluating and redesigning process, approach, coordination, and boilerplate information, and effectively implement changes.
• Coordinate with senior staff as needed to ensure marketing projects are executed in a consistent manner.
• Manage and keep current all proposal and project related information for the firm; spearhead the development and implementation of a digital asset management system; manage and keep current mail lists.
• Oversee and manage the firm’s brand management program
• Develop print, graphics and digital media presence through consistent branding.
• Manage project photography, coordinate, and supervise photo shoots when new projects are completed.
• Plan and prepare social media campaigns and activity, including analytics.
• Track performance of marketing activities, including social media campaigns and communicate this to leadership.
• Oversee and manage the firm’s social media and web presence, to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and any other relevant digital outreach. Maintain and update the website as required with news and project photography.
• Review and analyze website, and existing email marketing, and social media to improve customer experience. and effectiveness
• Prepare, coordinate, and submit awards submissions.
• Develop, organize, and manage company internal and external events and marketing initiatives, such as client and industry events.
• Project and anticipate workload and meet multiple deadlines.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
• Maintain and build positive relationships with external marketing vendors and industry groups.
• Attend and volunteer for industry organizations and events to help raise company profile.
• Investigate potential RFP/RFQ leads, track broker wins, and review with Principals and Senior Staff
• Research and track BD events, funding, and competitor activity
OPERATIONS
• Develop and maintain the marketing events calendar for important marketing event dates and award submission and publication deadlines.
• Develop and manage the annual marketing budget.
• Manage the completion of AIA documents and letter proposals.
ON-SITE
• This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which means you are expected to be in the office part of the time and can be remote part of the time, depending on project deadlines and supervisor requirements. HYL requires employees to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
• On-site attendance is required for aspects of the project, including but not limited to the following:
- marketing events
- project photography
Qualifications
• 7-15 years of progressive experience in marketing and proposal coordination within the A/E/C industry
• BA or BS degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline
• Strong graphics skills including: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop as well as Microsoft Office applications.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as editing skills
• A high degree of self-direction; the ability to determine next steps and execute them.
• Maintain thorough understanding of the studio’s body of work and approach
• Skilled at managing, planning, executing, delegating, and tracking tasks for multiple projects at once to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of AIA contract documents a plus
Exempt, Full Time, Travel may be required, Overtime may be required
